1959 Alcoholism Foundation of Victoria is established. 1960 The Foundation opens its Information Centre. 1964 Library is established. 1964 The Foundation prepares submissions for Royal Commission on Victorian liquor laws. 1972 Name is changed to Victorian Foundation on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence. 1972 Counselling and referral service in partnership with Church of England is established. 1973 First Education Officer is employed. 1973 First teachers' conference. 1977 Repeated call for an immediate coordinated attack by community, involving education, treatment and research. 1977 Foundation President, Sir Edward ‘Weary’ Dunlop (1970-1982), awarded Australian of the Year. 1980 Occupational Alcoholism Programs start. 1984 Name is changed to the Alcohol and Drug Foundation of Victoria. 1985 Decline in Government funding. 1985 Community Counselling Service requests exceed 2,500, 30% up on previous year. 1986 NCADA provides funds for expansion of the Foundation's information services. 1989 Harm minimisation is first mentioned in the 1989 Annual Report. 1990 Information Service handles about 30,000 calls. 1991 BOOZELESS Be Your Best campaign is launched. 1991 Reducing the Risk, harm minimisation based alcohol education program is developed 1992 Name is changed to Australian Drug Foundation. 1995 Information Centre (DrugInfo and Library) launched. 1996 Australian Drug Foundation website is launched. 1996 Centre for Youth Drug Studies is established. 1998 The Foundation is the Convenor of the 1st International Conference on Drugs and Young People. 1999 Somazone established. 2000 Good Sports program launched. 2001 Australian Drug Information Network (ADIN) established. 2002 DrugInfo Clearinghouse established. 2003 Community Alcohol Action Network established. 2005 1st Thinking Drinking Conference in Melbourne. 2006 The Foundation opens Sydney Office. 2006 Queensland Office established. 2007 2nd Thinking Drinking Conference in Melbourne. 2007 2000th club joins Good Sports. 2008 Australian Government provides $5m for national roll-out of Good Sports program. 2009 The Foundation celebrates 50 years service to the community. 2010 Good Sports celebrates 10 years. |
