Services include a website and resource centre that provides access to many free information products and publications, a specialist library service, a telephone and email information service, and email alert services for people interested in preventing alcohol and other drug-related harm. Professionals and members of the general community can use the services as their first port of call for information from local, national and international sources.
The Other Talk is a new resource for Australian families that helps them to talk openly about alcohol and other drugs. The Other Talk is an initial conversation and an ongoing understanding that when it comes to alcohol and other drugs, no question is too silly and no topic is off limits. It’s about letting your child know that they can come to you to discuss not only drugs and alcohol, but also related issues such as peer pressure, health, parties, safety and expectations. Somazone is an Australian youth service with questions and answers on drugs and alcohol, youth mental health, depression, teenage pregnancy, sexuality, boyfriends and girlfriends, bullying and abuse. On Somazone, young people can ask questions online and get free youth health advice, find youth services, and share personal stories anonymously.
Expert speakers from the Alcohol and Drug Foundation are available to present at community information sessions. Our presentations provide information about alcohol and other drugs, why people take drugs, the harms and effects of drug use, how many people take drugs, and how to talk to someone who is using drugs.
